Set between the Aravalli and Vindhya ranges, the park combines dry forests, rocky hills, grasslands, lakes and historic ruins.
Besides tigers, Ranthambore is home to leopards, sloth bears, sambar deer, spotted deer, nilgai, crocodiles and a remarkable variety of birdlife. Exploring the reserve by jeep or canter safari is the highlight of most visits to Ranthambore.
Book your safari well in advance, particularly between October and March. Both morning and afternoon safaris can be rewarding, but wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, so enjoy the landscape, birds and other animals as part of the experience.
